Trump Pushes Plan to Terminate Obamacare, Shift Billions to Americans Amid Shutdown Crisis

President Donald Trump spent Saturday telling Senate Republicans how to fix health care while the government shutdown stretched into its 38th day.

He posted on Truth Social that the hundreds of billions of federal dollars currently going to insurance companies should instead go straight to the people. โ€œI am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over,โ€ he wrote.

Trump added, โ€œIn other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate, per Dollar spent, the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare.โ€

The post came as the Senate held a rare Saturday session. A deal to reopen three federal agencies fell apart over Obamacare subsidies, which Democrats want preserved. Republicans refused to reopen the government without addressing the subsidies later, leaving the shutdown unresolved.

Trump also called for ending the filibuster, the Senate rule requiring 60 votes for most legislation. Some Senate Republicans worry that removing it could backfire if Democrats gain control.

Meanwhile, the shutdown is taking a real toll. Airlines are cancelling flights, airports are crowded, and unpaid air traffic controllers are struggling to keep up. SNAP food aid remains tied up in court after a Supreme Court pause allowed the administration to temporarily withhold benefits.

Trumpโ€™s plan is simple on paper, complicated in reality. Americans wait for government services while he tells the Senate to hand cash to the people and scrap one of the countryโ€™s largest health care programs. Bold claims, no clear path, and a country stuck in limbo.
