MAGA Loyalists Defend Trump Amid National Outrage Over His Explicit Death Threats

Donald Trump shocked the nation Thursday with a series of posts on Truth Social calling for the death of Democratic lawmakers. The 79-year-old presidentโ€™s violent messages came after Democrats released a video urging U.S. troops and intelligence officers to refuse unlawful orders.

โ€œSEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!โ€ Trump wrote in one post. He also shared messages from supporters, including one that read: โ€œHANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!โ€

The lawmakers targeted included Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, as well as Representatives Chrissy Houlahan, Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, and Jason Crow. Trumpโ€™s post painted these elected officials as enemies of the state.

Despite the shocking rhetoric, many MAGA supporters cheered him on. The Trump War Room account and the official White House Rapid Response Account amplified his posts to millions of followers.

Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz backed the president, writing on X: โ€œDemocrat members of Congress are brazenly and deliberately inciting members of the U.S. military to defy lawful orders from the Commander-in-Chief. Their actions constitute a clear-cut case of seditious conspiracy, and every one of them must be prosecuted and held accountable to the absolute fullest extent of the law.โ€

MAGA media personalities joined in. Laura Loomer wrote: โ€œPresident Trump just re-posted a post on Truth Social calling for seditious Democrat Senators to be hung for calling on members of the military to defy President Trumpโ€™s orders as Commander in Chief. Trump is right. Thatโ€™s the type of justice Americans want to see.โ€

Jack Posobiec, executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, shared the posts with his 3.2 million followers. MAGA influencer Johnny MAGA added: โ€œThis is the way. Omg heโ€™s cooking.โ€

But former Trump-appointed DHS official Miles Taylor slammed the president and his allies. โ€œDonald Trump is calling today for the hanging & murder of Democratic lawmakers,โ€ he wrote on X. โ€œTo my former Republican colleaguesโ€ฆ will you be cowardly & silent about this, too? Or, perhaps, muster the modest courage to condemn this vile conduct?โ€

The targeted Democrats responded firmly. โ€œWe are veterans and national security professionals who love this country and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,โ€ they wrote. โ€œNo threat, intimidation, or call for violence will deter us from that sacred obligation.โ€

The lawmakers added: โ€œWhatโ€™s most telling is that the President considers it punishable by death for us to restate the law. Our servicemembers should know that we have their backs as they fulfill their oath to the Constitution and obligation to follow only lawful orders.โ€

House Democratic leadership also condemned Trumpโ€™s posts. โ€œThe Presidentโ€™s violent and unhinged rhetoric against American patriots is consistent with his well-documented history of attacking prisoners of war, Gold Star families, and war heroes,โ€ reads a statement from Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar. โ€œThere is no bottom when it comes to Donald Trump.โ€

The statement concludes: โ€œDonald Trump must immediately delete these unhinged social media posts and recant his violent rhetoric before he gets someone killed.โ€
