Family Insider Breaks Down Trump’s Rising Hostility Toward Women in the Press

On Wednesday, Mary Trump used her online show to offer a sharp assessment of why her uncle, President Donald Trump, keeps clashing with female reporters. She said the pattern looks less like strategy and more like a leader who is β€œrattled” by the questions coming his way.

Mary, 60, brought up the issue after a series of recent incidents involving the president and members of the press. She pointed to the moment aboard Air Force One when he told a female reporter, β€œbe quiet, piggy,” after she pushed for a follow-up about the handling of sensitive files. The exchange was widely circulated, and Mary said it was another sign of how quickly her uncle turns hostile when challenged by women.

She also noted a recent Truth Social post in which the president mocked a reporter’s appearance after The New York Times published a story examining the sharp drop in his public events compared to his earlier years in office. According to Mary, these episodes are not isolated.

To her, they show a president who feels cornered.

Mary told her viewers that the rise in these attacks suggests he is becoming β€œmore comfortable” saying things publicly that he once said in private. She argued that he no longer tries to hide behavior she described as openly misogynistic, racist, and prejudiced toward multiple groups. She said the pattern has been visible for years, but the tone has sharpened in recent months.

She also brought up what she called a classic case of the β€œStreisand effect,” saying the president often ends up drawing more attention to the very topics he tries to suppress. When a reporter highlights an issue he dislikes, she said, his instinct is to attack the messengerβ€”which only makes the story more visible.

The White House rejected her claims. In a statement, The Daily Beast quoted Communications Director Steven Cheung calling Mary β€œa stone-old loser” who β€œdoesn’t have a clue.” He did not address her specific criticisms.

Mary has been one of the president’s loudest relatives when it comes to his behavior toward women. Earlier this month, she released a video criticizing the β€œQuiet, piggy” remark and said the reaction fit a pattern that stretches back decades. She claimed her uncle has long struggled with women who challenge him directly, especially those who question his authority or expertise.

She also noted the contrast in how he treated New York Times reporter Katie Rogers versus her male co-author. After the story on his limited public schedule was published, the president focused solely on Rogers, calling her β€œthird rate” and β€œugly, inside and out.” He made no mention of the male reporter who contributed equally to the piece.

Mary expanded on these concerns during a recent discussion on a podcast run by The Daily Beast Podcast. She said sexism was β€œstandard” in their family and explained that male relatives commonly dismissed or ignored women. She described moments from her childhood where women in the family, including her grandmother, were spoken to in ways that made their opinions seem unimportant. These early experiences, she said, match what the public sees today.

She argued that the president’s attitude toward female journalists is not a political tactic but something rooted in the family culture he grew up with. According to her, it is a mindset he carried into business, entertainment, and eventually politics.

Accusations of misogyny have followed Trump since his first presidential run. The most widely known example comes from the 2005 recording released during the 2016 campaign, where he bragged about being able to touch women without consent because of his fame. Mary referenced that moment as part of a long trail of comments and actions she believes point to a consistent outlook.
