The White House Releases Trump’s Latest MRI Results

Over the past few years, Donald Trump’s health has been under the microscope.

Questions about his stamina, energy, and mental sharpness have followed him from his first term into his second. This week, the White House released details from his latest MRI scan, trying to put rumors to rest.

Trump, 79, had promised to share the results after reporters asked if the scan focused on his brain. Many people assumed it did, since MRI scans often check cognitive health. The president has faced claims that he has slowed down with age, and some observers have watched closely for any signs of fatigue.

The White House clarified that the scan looked at his heart and abdomen, not his brain. U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, Trump’s physician, said the results were completely normal. He described Trump as being in β€œexcellent health.”

Barbella explained that imaging like this is standard for men in Trump’s age group. It helps prevent problems by checking heart and abdominal health early. He said:

β€œPresident Trump’s cardiovascular imaging is perfectly normal. There is no evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels. The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health. His abdominal imaging is also perfectly normal. All major organs appear very healthy and well-perfused. Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns. SUMMARY: This level of detailed assessment is standard for an executive physical at President Trump’s age and confirms that he remains in excellent overall health.”

Trump spoke about the scan while flying back to Washington on Air Force One. A reporter asked if it had focused on his brain. He replied:

β€œI have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it. I got a perfect mark which you would be incapable of doing. You too.”

He also claimed the scan was β€œperfect” and compared it to the phone call where he said he got impeached. Trump’s remarks came with his usual personal attacks on reporters.

The scan was done on October 10 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This was his second exam in less than a year. Rumors about his health began earlier when people noticed a bruise on his hand and swelling in his ankles. Chronic venous insufficiency, the diagnosis, is common and not dangerous, but it added fuel to public questions about his overall health.

Observers have also watched for changes in energy. Last month, he was accused of closing his eyes during an Oval Office event. A White House spokesperson said he was not sleeping and answered questions throughout.

Trump has reacted angrily to stories about fatigue. Last week, he called New York Times reporter Katie Rogers β€œugly” after her article on his energy levels. Rogers and co-author Dylan Freedman wrote that keeping up his packed schedule is becoming harder as he ages.

His schedule is demanding. He flew over 12 hours nonstop to Israel in October to help broker a Gaza cease-fire. He attends multiple public events each week and holds long press conferences. Despite this, the Times reported that he now starts events later in the day, averaging 12:08 p.m. compared to 10:31 a.m. in 2017. His official appearances have dropped by 39% since his first term.

Trump responded on Truth Social, calling the Times β€œradical left lunatics” and Rogers a β€œthird-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out.” He insisted the article was false and that he still has high energy.
