Michael Wolff says President Donald Trump surrounds himself with women who look nearly the same so people will think they are available to him. Wolff made the claim on the Daily Beast podcast Inside Trumpβs Head and said the look is part of an image Trump wants to project.
Wolff told co host Joanna Coles that the pattern is βenormously importantβ to Trump and that he wants to be seen as βthe guy the women are around.β He said a juror from Trumpβs New York trial also noticed the similarity in how the women looked and dressed.
A quick note about Wolff himself helps explain why people pay attention to his take. He is an American writer and journalist who rose to wide notice with the 2018 book Fire and Fury about Trumpβs first year in office.
βAfterwards, I spoke to one of the jurors, and among the things that this juror singled out, he said, you know, all of these Trump women, girls, the ones who were testifying [like] Hope Hicks, Madeleine Westerhout, the ones who were sitting behind him, Natalie Harp, Alina Habba, he said they all look the same. They all dress the same, and they all look the same. It really creeped everybody out,β Wolff said.
Wolff added that many of the women seem to have had plastic surgery so they can all look alike. βThereβs a lot of plastic surgery so that they can all look the same, but it is very much… itβs a role,β he said, arguing the effect looks planned rather than accidental.
He also described what he saw in 2017 while covering the White House. βWhen I was in the White House in 2017, sitting there every day, and I would see these women come by all who were dressed the same. Short pencil skirts this was in the winter high boots and everybodyβs hair worn down,β Wolff said, noting the uniform style stood out to him.
Wolff said the image serves a purpose. βI think part of it is that βthey are available to meβ, thatβs what he wants people to think,β Wolff said, and he argued that, even at an older age, Trump cares about appearing desirable.
The White House pushed back hard. When reached for comment White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said, βMichael Wolff is a lying sack of s*** and has been proven to be a fraud,β and added that Wolff βroutinely fabricates stories originating from his sick and warped imagination, only possible because he has a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut sized brain.β
