President Donald Trump posted 2 almost identical messages about artificial intelligence on Tuesday, 40 minutes apart, stirring fresh talk about his style and his focus. Both posts warned that state rules on AI could slow growth and called for one federal standard.

β€œInvestment in AI is helping to make the U.S. Economy the β€˜HOTTEST’ in the World β€” But overregulation by the States is threatening to undermine this Growth Engine.”

”Some States are even trying to embed DEI ideology into AI models, producing β€˜Woke AI’ (Remember Black George Washington?). We MUST have one Federal Standard instead of a patchwork of 50 State Regulatory Regimes. We can do this in a way that protects children AND prevents censorship!”

At 5:36 p.m. the president posted again with nearly the same text, swapping one line for another about China and the defense bill.

β€œInvestment in AI is helping to make the U.S. Economy the β€˜HOTTEST’ in the World, but overregulation by the States is threatening to undermine this Major Growth β€˜Engine.’”

”Some States are even trying to embed DEI ideology into AI models, producing β€˜Woke AI’ (Remember Black George Washington?). We MUST have one Federal Standard instead of a patchwork of 50 State Regulatory Regimes. If we don’t, then China will easily catch us in the AI race. Put it in the NDAA, or pass a separate Bill, and nobody will ever be able to compete with America.”

The main change between the two posts was the swap of concerns. The first named protecting children and preventing censorship. The second added a warning about China and urged lawmakers to use the National Defense Authorization Act to block state rules. That move lines up with House GOP talk about federal preemption for AI.

Critics were quick to point out the repetition. The posts revived earlier shots at the president from opponents and from some experts who have raised questions about his memory and his speaking habits. California Governor Gavin Newsom even joked with an AI bot about repeated false claims, a jab aimed squarely at Mr. Trump.

Between the two AI messages, the president posted a longer roundup of his supposed second term wins. He took credit for things that many fact checkers say did not happen, including ending wars and winning global favor. Those claims drew quick push back from analysts and reporters who say reality does not match the list.

The posts landed as Congress moved ahead on a separate and high profile matter. The Senate unanimously approved a bill to force the Justice Department to release files tied to Jeffrey Epstein, sending the measure to the White House for the president to sign. Survivors and lawmakers hailed the step as a rare bipartisan push for transparency.
